Sarah Palin Pranked by Sarkozy Impersonator - The Sleuth

Katrina | November 2, 2008 | 3:20 am

Sarah Palin Pranked by Sarkozy Impersonator - The Sleuth: “It gets kinda boring in the North. So, we like to torture dumb Americans.”

Les Justiciers Masqués are radio hosts from Montréal. Sarah Palin is just such an easy target. Kinda like shooting fish in a barrel. From a helicopter. With napalm.

(Via The Washington Post.)

You can listen to the call on Les Justiciers Masqués website.

The Dears fourth studio album - Missiles - is out now! Go get it!

THIS WEEK THE DEARS ARE OFFICIALLY RELEASING A NEW ALBUM CALLED “MISSILES.” WORLDWIDE. IT IS SO KICK-ASS. DON’T BE SHY: PLEASE GO OUT TO YOUR LOCAL RECORD STORE AND BUY IT, DEMAND IT, IF YOU MUST. MAKE IT AN EVENT. NOTHING ELSE THIS WEEK IS AS IMPORTANT AS THIS. DON’T DO ANYTHING ELSE WHILE LISTENING TO IT. DON’T ANSWER YOUR PHONE OR ACCEPT/SEND TEXT MESSAGES OR CHECK YOUR EMAIL OR NAVIGATE CITY TRAFFIC OR TRY TO COOK DINNER OR VACCUUM YOUR HOUSE. TURN OUT THE LIGHTS AND SUCCUMB THE WAY WE DID WHEN WE MADE IT. SHUT EVERYTHING DOWN FOR 58 MINUTES AND 16 SECONDS. IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO EXPERIENCE THIS ALBUM. DON’T LET ANY SHITTY/TEPID REVIEWS THROW YOU BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T GET IT; THEY WERE RIFLING THROUGH A PILE OF CDS (UNDERSTANDABLY) TRYING TO TO MAKE A DEADLINE AND ULTIMATELY DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING IMPORTANT. OR THEY JUST PLAIN HATE THE DEARS BECAUSE THEY HATE THEMSELVES WHICH IS SAD BECAUSE THIS RECORD WAS MADE WITH ONLY LOVE, UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. THIS IS FOR YOU, ABOUT YOU. YES, YOU. TRY AND FIGHT IT BUT IT’S TRUE. CLOSE YOUR EYES, SPREAD OUT YOUR BODY AND FALL BACKWARDS INTO IT. BY THE END YOU WILL HAVE GATE-CRASHED HEAVEN WITH GOD HIMSELF HOLDING YOU IN HIS ARMS, STROKING YOUR HAIR SO GENTLY THAT YOU WON’T EVER LIVE YOUR LIFE THE SAME WAY AGAIN. WE PROMISE THAT IF YOU LISTEN TO IT THE WAY IT WAS INTENDED THAT YOU WILL HAVE A TRULY GREAT EXPERIENCE AND MAY EVEN HAVE A REALLY GOOD CRY. LIKE SHIVER TO THE BONE CRY.

Famous Montréalers #3: Melissa Auf Der Maur

If I could every be anyone else, I think I want to be Melissa Auf Der Maur.

Making red hair super sexy, she’s one hot chick. And looks so good wielding the bass.

Born in Montreal, educated at Concordia University, Melissa played bass for local bands before joining Hole and replacing D’Arcy Wretzky for Smashing Pumpkins farewell tour. In 2004 she released her debut solo record; the follow-up to that will be out later this year, accompanied by a grahic novel and concept movie.

And she’s tall.

Bitch.

Craving of the day: Pumpkin pie

Pumpkin. Pie. Yummo.

Currently, I have two stooges scouring the city, searching for pie for me. They will not be allowed to rest until they bring it back.

I. WANT. PIE.

(Or toast with jam).

Famous Montréalers #2: Leonard Cohen

Katrina | September 4, 2008 | 8:22 pm

“Give me a Leonard Cohen after-world…. so I can sigh eternally” - Nirvana, Pennyroyal Tea.

Leonard Cohen - musician, writer, poet. Born and raised in Westmount, three blocks away from where I sit and write this, Cohen is probably our most famous son.

Famous Montréal-ers #1: William Shatner

Katrina | September 2, 2008 | 8:45 pm

On 22 March 1931, William Alan Shatner was born in Montréal.

Yes. Captain Kirk was born here. OK, so he’s not just known for his work as Captain Kirk.

He’s also a recording artist, who has recorded with the likes of Ben Folds. His version of Pulp’s Common People is a classic.

William Shatner is Canadian. Not American. And not only is he Canadian, but he’s a Quebecker. A Montréaler. We should be proud. Sir, I salute you.
